A London Guide / London Attractions / Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square, one of London's most famous tourist attractions is dominated by a statue of Admiral Nelson standing on a column. It was built to commemorate Admiral Nelson, who was killed during his victorious battle against Napoleon off Trafalgar, Spain in 1805. At Christmas each year Norway sends a huge tree for the square as a token of gratitude for Britain's help during WWII. It is also at the heart of London's New Year Celebrations with people gathering there to see in the new year.
