The Gilbert Collection
Given to London by Sir Arthur Gilbert, The Gilbert Collection is on permanent display at Somerset House. This decorative art collection comprises of some 800 objects, including priceless 17th and 19th century miniatures, gold and silver works, furniture that once belonged to Indian maharajahs and some Napoleonic memorabilia. The Gilbert Collection is one of the most magnificent bequests ever made to Britain and shows some of the most intricately worked and costly pieces to be found in Britain.
