Colchester Zoo Colchester Zoo is now one of the finest Zoos in Europe. Theres over 200 species to see, set in over 60 acres of beautiful parkland. Dont miss the new Playa Patagonia for Patagonian sea lions featuring a 24 metre acrylic tunnel under the water to view the sea lions swimming above your heads. Then theres the new Kingdom of the Wild which has cost nearly £2 million to build. It provides a wonderful mixed savannah style environment for Zebras, Ostriches, Rhinos, Kudu and Giraffe as well as 20 other species of African mammals, birds, insects and fish. Theres also Spirit of Africa, the breeding facility for African Elephants, Chimp World, Penguin Shores, Monkey Mountain, South American World and Edge of Africa with new enclosures for Mandrills, Cheetahs and Hyenas. Colchester Zoo has been voted Zoo of the Year and also Essex Family Attraction of the Year. Get closer to the animals with loads of daily displays including a Reptile Encounter, Penguin Parade, free flying Falconry display, Parrot displays and various animal feedings, some of which visitors can take part in, including the amazing opportunity to help feed the Elephants or Giraffes. Other attractions include the Tanganyika Road train, new Tanganyika Bridge across Lemur Island, the Kids Jungle Safari Train, Kalahari Capers Soft Play complex and four outdoor adventure play areas, all of which are included in your admission.
